The Mineral Foundation of Goa

The Mineral Foundation of Goa (MFG) is an NGO established by the mining companies of Goa, for implementation of social and environmental activities in the mining belt of Goa. The MFG was registered in December 2000 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 by the mining industry in Goa with an aim to implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the true sense of letter and spirit.

MFG's work centres around projects which are aimed for development of environmental and social infrastructure, the main thrust is for developing livelihood options for rural youths through livelihood programmes like MFG-LABS in which youths are trained in Bed Side Nursing, Food and Beverage, Plumbing, etc. MFG has crafted the social infrastructure like community resource centres, balwadi's, water shed development through construction of check dams, establishing SHG'S and educational programmes like scholarship for professional education, etc.

Sesa Goa and MFG in association with the Government of Goa are jointly implementing a project "Gram Nirman 2010" which is aimed at overall development of the villages. This is collaborative project of the MFG with Sesa Goa and Government of Goa in which the community is involved in planning and implementation of thesis projects with the aim that community subsequently owns the projects for monitoring this project. This project has benefited around 15 villages. The first phase of the project has been completed successfully which includes a number of development projects under the areas of agriculture, education and social infrastructure for the overall development, the second phase is being implemented and is under progress.
