- Bureau Veritas, the international certifying agency for the Social Accountability 8000 Standard,has certified the four major divisions of Sesa Goa Ltd, which are:
- a] Iron Ore Division - All Mines: Exploration, Mining, Processing, Blending & Dispatch of Iron Ore

The Sonshi Mine won awards for Waste Dump Management. In the Medium Size Mechanised Mine category, the Sanquelim Mine won awards for afforestation and reclamation and rehabilitation, while also winning the 1st Prize for Overall Performance. - Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week:Sonshi mine received a Super Status for the 3rd consecutive year for excelling in all parameters of competition in the Very Large Mechanized Mines category.Sanquelim mine given "Super Status" in reclamation and rehabilitation, 1st Prize in Noise, Vibration and other scientific studies and also received the 2nd prize for Overall Performance in the Medium Mechanized Mines category.
- Sesa Industries Limited selected the winner of the "Golden Peacock Award" for Occupational Health & Safety - 2008
- Codli Mines & Met Coke Division won the Gold Award and the Pig Iron Plant has won the Silver Award in the Annual Greentech Environment Excellence Awards 2008 in Metals & Mining Sector; The Shipbuilding Division won the Silver Award in Engineering Sector.
- 19 Awards won during the Mines Safety Week - 2008, organised by Mines Safety & Productivity Council: The Codli Mine the 1st Prize in both Overall Performance (Mining) and Overall Performance (Engineering). It also won 1st Prizes in Lowest Accident Frequency Rate – 2008, Welfare Amenities & Health Protection, Maintenance of Records, Safety Exhibition and the 2nd Prize in Opencast Workings. The Sonshi Mine won the 1st Prize for implementation of Recommendation of Tripartite Conference of Safety in Mines and the 2nd Prize for the Screening Plant. The Sanquelim Mine won the 3rd Prize for Overall Performance (Mining) 1st Prize for Pit Dewatering and the 2nd Prize for Welfare Amenities and Health Protection. The Orasso Dongor Mine won the 1st Prize in House Keeping and Organisation, 2nd Prize in Transport and 2nd Prize in Welfare Amenities and Health Operations. - Received the World Quality Commitment Award in the Gold category during Business Initiative Directions (BID) World Congress in Paris, on the basis of World Quality Commitment (WQC) regulations & criteria.
- Bureau Veritas Certification (India) Private Limited certifies Sesa Goa Mining Division to be compliant with ISO 9001: 2000 and ISO 14001: 2004 standards.
- On the basis of World Quality Commitment (WQC) regulations & criteria, Sesa Goa Limited has been designated by Business Initiative Directions (BID) world congress to receive the World Quality Commitment Award in the Gold category in Paris.

- Mining division - Karnataka won the 1st prize for best overall performance, for method of working, operation & maintenance of HEMM, injury rate performance, safety consciousness and house keeping and state level function (under group A, mechanized mines) during Mine safety week-2006.

- Sesa Industries is ranked 8th Best transitioning medium enterprise in a study conducted by Citigroup and International Market Assessment (India) [International Market Assessment (IMA) India, a business information service company, in association with Citigroup undertook a study of India's best performing Emerging Corporations and ranked your Company 8th (1st in the Metal Sector) out of the top 500 Transitioning Medium Enterprises in India, based on consistent performance for 4 years, out of the companies with turnover between Rs. 100 and Rs. 500 crores in the private sector (excluding financial companies).]
- Sesa has been listed as the 12th Fastest Wealth Creator in the list of companies that had been ranked in terms of speed of wealth creation as per the 11th Wealth Creation Study report by Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd. This study was based upon statistical analysis of stock price performance of listed companies, and did not involve any subjective judgment. For the purpose of this study, top 100 wealth creators for the period 2001-06 in the Indian stock market were identified. These companies had distinction of adding at least Rs.1 billion to their market capitalisation over the period of five years, after adjusting for dilution. Ranks had been accorded on the on the basis of Speed of Wealth Creation, that is, the compound growth in Wealth Created during the period under study. Wealth creation is a process by which a company enhances the market value of the capital entrusted to its shareholders; it is achieved by the rational actions of the company in a sustained manner.
