Prizes received during Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) week celebrations in Goa: In the Very Large Mechanised Mines category, the Codli Group of Mines won awards for afforestation and reclamation and rehabilitation, while also winning the 1st Prize for Overall Performance. The Sonshi Mine won awards for Waste Dump Management. In the Medium Size Mechanised Mine category, the Sanquelim Mine won awards for afforestation and reclamation and rehabilitation, while also winning the 1st Prize for Overall Performance. The Orasso Dongor Mine won the 1st Prize for Noise, Vibration Survey & Other Scientific Studies.

Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week:Sonshi mine received a Super Status for the 3rd consecutive year for excelling in all parameters of competition in the Very Large Mechanized Mines category.Sanquelim mine given "Super Status" in reclamation and rehabilitation, 1st Prize in Noise, Vibration and other scientific studies and also received the 2nd prize for Overall Performance in the Medium Mechanized Mines category.

Codli Mines & Met Coke Division won the Gold Award and the Pig Iron Plant has won the Silver Award in the Annual Greentech Environment Excellence Awards 2008 in Metals & Mining Sector; The Shipbuilding Division won the Silver Award in Engineering Sector.
19 Awards won during the Mines Safety Week - 2008, organised by Mines Safety & Productivity Council: The Codli Mine the 1st Prize in both Overall Performance (Mining) and Overall Performance (Engineering). It also won 1st Prizes in Lowest Accident Frequency Rate – 2008, Welfare Amenities & Health Protection, Maintenance of Records, Safety Exhibition and the 2nd Prize in Opencast Workings. The Sonshi Mine won the 1st Prize for implementation of Recommendation of Tripartite Conference of Safety in Mines and the 2nd Prize for the Screening Plant. The Sanquelim Mine won the 3rd Prize for Overall Performance (Mining) 1st Prize for Pit Dewatering and the 2nd Prize for Welfare Amenities and Health Protection. The Orasso Dongor Mine won the 1st Prize in House Keeping and Organisation, 2nd Prize in Transport and 2nd Prize in Welfare Amenities and Health Operations. Finally, the Chitradurga Mines at Karnataka won 1st Prizes in Overall performance (Mining), Welfare Amenities, Publication, Propaganda and Supervision Standards and Method of Working.

Mining division - Karnataka won the 1st prize for best overall performance, for method of working, operation & maintenance of HEMM, injury rate performance, safety consciousness and house keeping and state level function (under group A, mechanized mines) during Mine safety week-2006.
